Netball wins it big for Singapore Sports!

Netball helps to put Singapore in the radar of the world as Singapore finished 2^nd in the SportsBusiness “Ultimate Sports City” award.

This is the first time Singapore was shortlisted for this prestigious award and Singapore’s growth as a major sports hub is boosted by the news.

Singapore is one of the 25 cities who made the initial cut based on the history of hosting sports events, the hosting rights secured between 2006 and 2014, the numbers of federations hosted, facilities, transport, accommodation, government support, security, legacy, public sports interest and quality of life.

Molly Rhone's Visit to Singapore

IFNA President Molly Rhone delighted with preparations for upcoming World Netball Championships

The World Netball Championships will come back to Singapore once again in 2011. The event will see 16 nations, including hosts Singapore, battle to be crowned the world's best. Molly Rhone, president of the International Federation of Netball Associations (IFNA), was in town recently to oversee preparations for the eagerly-awaited event. Meeting reporters at the Rendezvous Hotel, Singapore on Monday, March 15, Rhone was extremely satisfied with preparations for the tournament.

"There is tremendous progress", she said. "Since I've been in netball, (Singapore) is the first country I've seen that has almost all the areas covered at this point in time. I had a look at the accommodation, the match venue, and I am very pleased with what I have seen".
