Netball part of Manzini Municipal games

NATIONAL Netball Association of Swaziland is excited to form part of the sporting codes that have been invited to participate in the Manzini Municipal games launch.

The launch will be held at the Mavuso Trade Centre on Saturday and the games are sponsored by the Nelson Mandela Foundation and Manzini Youth Care.

The games will be played in a league format and will include different sporting codes.

National Netball Association of Swaziland (NNAS) Secretary General Siphiwe Nxumalo said they were grateful to be part of the event as this would give them a chance to raise awareness on the sport.

She said the most interesting part was that the project was more focused on ploughing back to the community as Manzini Youth Care organisation was doing charity work.

“We are happy to be part of a charity project like this one and this will also give us a chance to raise awareness about the sport.

Rules
“People will get to learn about the rules and how the sport is played as also the project’s objective is to develop sport and keep young children away from the streets,” she said.

Initially the games were supposed to be played in a one day tournament format. Nxumalo said changes were made to the effect that the games will now be played in a league format. She said organizers of the event were eying the teams which do not usually win in the league but changes have since been made.

“We are yet to meet as an executive to decide on which teams will represent us in the games following the changes,” she said.

A similar project was launched in Mbabane over the past weekend where AMICAAL pumped in an amount of E10 000 for the launch. The Nelson Mandela Foundation forked out E400 000 which will be spread among the 12 towns around the country in sponsorship of sporting activities.
